Language You May Hear:
Sankalpa‘San’, means "a connection with the highest truth," and ‘kalpa’, equates to "vow." Thus creating a vow to your connection with your highest truth.
By creating a short sentence in positive language you can create a powerful statement that not only helps you to connect with your heart's highest intention, but also counter a limiting thought or belief that may be rooted in your psyche. We use a Sankalpa in our Yoga Nidra practices while we are in the slower brain wave states. The slower brain wave states are far more impressionable and malleable allowing us to go into our own psyches and uproot the thoughts and beliefs that are not serving us and replanting new ones through the seeds of a Sankalpa.
Some examples :
If you struggle with self-worth, a Sankalpa could be, ‘I feel valued.”
If you have been lacking confidence, a Sankalpa could be, ‘I am powerful.’
If you are in need of nurturing, you can use the Sankalpa, ‘I feel loved.’ or, ‘I am cared for.’
This powerful phrase can be the catalyst to major shifts in the internal world which then reverberate to the outside world!
“Our entire existence hinges on the quality of mind you keep. It is Sankalpa that we use to repattern and reprogram the mind.” -- Jana Roemer
